Description
The Medical Transcriptionist (Part-Time/Remote) provides transcription services to the Chickasaw Medical Center in Ada, Oklahoma. This position transcribes highly specialized medical dictation covering a wide range of medical specialties meeting established medical, legal, accreditation and organization requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Applies knowledge of an extensive body of highly specialized medical and scientific terminology of the unit such as anatomy, physiology, diseases, tests, pharmacology, surgical procedures, laboratory values, characteristic of a medical, surgical, psychiatric, neurological, cardiovascular, or another specialty unit of the medical facility.
Familiar with format and requirements for narrative summaries, diagnoses and procedures, surgical reports, medical evaluation boards, tissue reports, radiology reports, autopsy reports, technical and administrative correspondence, and other reports necessary for the completion of patient records or relating to patient treatment.
Identifies and corrects inconsistencies in dictated materials applying knowledge of practical anatomy, medical techniques, major disease processes, and medical procedures.
Organizes patient records and the relationship of their parts in order to search records and extract medical information and data.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance with all applicable rules (federal, state, local, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, Prime Contract requirements, etc.) for themselves and the company as a whole. Fosters an environment in which they will report any violations or reasonably suspected violation of CNI policy, FAR, and/or CFR and are comfortable discussing the myriad compliance, conflict, FAR, CFR, etc. issues that arise during the performance of a government contract.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED) equivalency and at least two (2) years of experience transcribing medical records. Experience performing history and physicals, discharge summaries, consultations, progress notes, and clinic notes preferred. Experience in editing Voice Recognition/Speech Recognition. Experience on SpeechMotion platform preferred, but not required.
CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION
Certified Medical Transcriptionist from a state accredited program preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Knowledge and application of HIPAA regulations.

Ability to use designated professional reference material and operate word processing equipment, dictation and transcription equipment, and other equipment as specified.
Must be able to concentrate and work under pressure with time constraints.
Must have excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination, as well as excellent listening skills.
Must be able to understand and apply relevant legal concepts (e.g., confidentiality).
Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read multi-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense and understand to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
